Corey Saunders' Blog: Oct. 4, 2011

By Corey Saunders

My name is Corey Saunders.
I am a point guard (6-foot-1, 165 lbs.) from Baltimore, Maryland. I graduated from Frederick Douglass High School (MD) last spring. I was in the class of 2011, but now I will be attending Mt. Zion Prep Academy (NC) for my post-graduate year. So, I am currently in the class of 2012.
I choose Mt. Zion because, first of all, it is a legitimate institute. Mt.Zion is an established, private boarding school located in Durham, North Carolina.
Secondly, is location. Most of the prep schools that were interested in me were out of my boundaries. Also, Mt. Zion's prep team is a new program, only in its third year of existence, but the school itself has always been established.
It's a place where I know I will get a lot accomplished. I will be in a regular school setting, while also having to dedicate myself to a strict schedule of early practices and workouts, class, and church. I will have the chance to get exposure with our prep team having 56 scheduled games and over ten tournaments. I think that is enough to prove to college coaches that I am capable of earning a scholarship.
This past weekend I was invited to attend ScoutsFocus' Elite camp in Boyds, Maryland. I'm using the extra exposure to help prepare me for this upcoming season. The added exposure will also help my stock and draw some attention from the potential coaches at the camp.
